Verse of the Day - Romans 8:37-38

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. ~ Romans 8:37-38 (NIV)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Beatles had song that came to mind this morning..."All ya need is love...(la-dadada)...all ya need is love....(la-dadada)...all ya need is love, love...love is all ya need." (I can hear some of you out there singing along! :-) And humanity longs for love so badly, they're willing to grab at almost anything, or anyone, to get it. Except God. Earthly relationships are the ones that you can see and hear and touch; therefore, we gravitate to those relationships for our love longings. And yet...they can never love like God can love. And they can never fill like God can fill. Nor ever fulfill.
No, human love is flawed. Desperately flawed. To put your weight fully in human love without God is to step into a holey boat. You will spend your life bailing water and never feel satisfied. But God's love is complete. It's satisfying, and it's lasting. He doesn't bail on us when the going gets rough, as do some people. He doesn't withhold His love for sadistic pleasure, as do some people. He doesn't think of self, as do some people.
It's true -- "All we need is love..." -- make it God's love...complete, pure, lasting, fail-safe. And when we know and embrace His love for us, it can and does change our perspective on how we give and receive human love, too.
Love,
Joelene
