Verse of the Day - 1 Kings 19:12-13

And after the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face....

We think big is better, huh? People flock to megachurches, travel to large conferences, listen to internationally-known charismatic speakers, buy the #1 Christian best-selling books....big, BIGGER, BIGGEST. good, BETTER, BEST. And is there anything wrong with these ministries and teaching tools? No. But is this the only way God speaks? No, again.

How about the little devotional you picked up in Bible Study? Or the song you heard on the radio while flipping dials? Or the genuine smile from a stranger who held the elevator door when you needed help? Does God speak in the little things, in the quiet things? Yes...a resounding yes!

If we take off the blinders and look for God, we will find Him...EVERYWHERE!

* He is talking to us...encouraging us, counseling us, loving us.

* He is acting on our behalf...moving mountains, breaking down barriers, defeating our enemies.

* He is testing and building our faith...challenging us to trust in Him and not our own devices, to know what we believe and stand on those beliefs, to lay down our lives for Him who loves us and gave Himself for us.

Do we have our eyes and ears open to Him, or are we fixed on only the big and the bold? Do we hear His whisper?

Don't put God in a box and possibly miss what He's trying to tell you...you never know how God will speak, where He will manifest Himself. That's the wonder of God! Look and listen -- find God where He's at, not where you think He should be.

Love,
Joelene
