Verse of the Day - Psalm 42:11

Why am I discouraged? Why so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again -- my Savior and my God! ~ Psalm 42:11 (NLT)

Discouragement and depression are very powerful forces in our lives, that can literally sap the life out of our spirits. Circumstances get difficult and ugly, and we lose sight of many things...who we are, where we're headed, Who's our strength. And the downward spiral feeds on itself, doesn't it?

When we take our eyes off of God and His sovereignty and power, all we're left with is worrying about life under our own power. And since there are so many things we have no control over in terms of what others do or don't do, we end up with disappointment, defeat, and despair.

But God says, Hey, what about Me? Did you forget about my role in all of this?

God is in the midst of your circumstances, even if you can't feel Him or see Him. He is there, waiting for you to take His hand. Things in life may get extremely difficult, but if Jesus is your Savior, then God is your Father. He is the Almighty...and you are His child. And He never lets go of your hand.

(And I'm not a doctor, but I do know that clinical depression is real. Please seek counsel from a physician if you think you may be affected by this. God can work through this means, as well.)

Daily give Him the honor He is due, recognizing His position, His power. We are powerless, but He is all-powerful! Trust Him to give you joy in the midst of the tough stuff, to fight in your defense, to divinely control the things you can't.

Don't let the downward spiral of depression send you spinning into a hole. Remember the Lord, lift your eyes to Him, and trust Him...completely.

Love,
Joelene
